Where Have I Been? (and what-not)

October 6th, 2007 · 6 Comments

Hello friends and fellow gameplayers (or stalkers), I am a bit over due on the communication and feel the need to blog with an update. As many of you may have realized, and also written in about, I haven’t produced a show for over 2 months. I was actually kinda struggling to keep up with the regularity to begin with..then my car got hijacked by this dude we all know as Mr RL…. he’s pretty much been driving ever since.

So I will begin with an enumeration of my life events (but w/o the actual numbers):

In March My husband Andy and I bought a house, not just any house- it was a “fixer-uper”. If any of you have ever been part of a project of that magnitude you are feeling a sharp pang of sympathy for me right now. The house continues to haunt me with chores, unfinished and un-started projects.

In May My best friend from diapers, Jardena, got married in Oregon (no pics as of yet), and so I rushed to be by her side as her (gulp) matron of honor. The wedding was beautiful, she was amazing to behold, and then they were off…

By June I decided I needed a job, and began to search for anything that would get me back into the airline biz and began interviewing with several different companies. I had an amazingly successful interview session with Alaska Airlines where the open house had over 70 applicants show for the measly 3 positions they were hiring for. I made it through 2 rounds of “elimination” til there were only 5 applicants left…then I got the “thank you for your time, but you are not what we are looking for right now” phone call. Oh well. So much for me being able to get any job I apply for, hehe. I decided I might be looking in the wrong place. Maybe I could go back to being a nanny, or a waitress, or any number of random jobs I’ve held over the years….

Then in August I got a call from JetBlue. They wanted me. They interviewed me in a way I have never before been interviewed. It was an interview of my personality. They wanted to know who I was, why I did things, how I felt about people… I think I fell in love with jetBlue on that day. FINALLY something I could stand behind and believe in. Anyhoo, I couldn’t get my hopes up too much after the Alaska ordeal so I patiently went through the million or so steps required to become employed by a US airline. Then I was hired.

In August/early September I went to the Northwest with Andy, and visited my family for an amazing week. I love my family dearly, and being so far from them has been difficult, so a week is like winning the family love lottery :) I went truckin’ with my dad, met a dear friend’s baby for the first time, visited the A&W where I had my first job (imagine me in a Bear costume…), cried cause the drive-in was now a Walmart super center, hung out with my little brother fresh from Afghanistan, and in general had an amazing time.

Andy and I then proceeded to Gnomedex 7.0 in Seattle which is a web 2.0-ey “blogger” con unlike any other con I am told. I met amazing people (Chris Brogan, Guy Kawasaki, Chris Pirillo, Cali Lewis and many others). I had a cool job while attending- I had a camera and a reason to rove around and interview people, right up my ally if you know me at all. I had a blast. Pics you ask?
Then I went to Orlando for 3 weeks of training with jetBlue. I believe that pretty much brings you all up to date. I have been doing regular shows for MacMost and went to PNME 2007 this last week. I met and fell in love with some amazing people, and am now truly itching to get back in the saddle again. A couple cool pic sets from the event (as I, shamefully, did not have my camera): Mat from Door from Hell Radio, and Jim from The Clip Show.

Last night at work…(see pics below)…and now you are caught up with the Molly. That’s what’s been going on in my little world: Life. I’ve recently found the time to actually play the game again, and in that I KNOW I will put out some more episodes. Record me an EyeJot, add me to twitter, do what you need to do :) but know that Molly is not really podfaded at all….

Q & A

April 5th, 2007 · No Comments

I thought I’d take a moment to answer a few emails- questions that aren’t really deserving of the Dumb Question Arena.

  • Donna, a new viewer writes in and asks: “how do you get the video to be so clean and pretty? The quality is wonderful, and I can’t tell if it’s because of your equipment, because of the delivery format, because of the service that you’re using (I saw something that talked a bit about blip.tv )…whatever it is I’m much impressed. Without giving away any trade secrets could you share any of that?”

Well Donna, I believe the reason the cast is such great quality is because I am OCD about the editing :) . I use standard Apple applications that came with the computer. iSight (the built-in camera/video camera) & iMovieHD (video editing/movie making software) are what I use to create the video- which ends up being about 3GB in size when I am done in iMovie , I then compress it to “share” for iTunes/iPod. This process makes it viewable on the iPod, and reduces the size to around 40MB. I’m not sure if that means anything to you, but those are the steps I take when I create it. The style contributes alot to the quality I think too- go back and check out the first few, then compare to the latest episodes. The difference is almost unbearable :)

If anyone has any more questions about this- shoot me an email.

  • A few people have been wondering where the audio show has gone.

I am not sure. I want to start producing more audio episodes, but am kinda stumped on the details. I don’t want to put shows out that I can’t stand behind, and be proud of- and that would be me blabbing on about unleet nonsense. :P

I do want to start up again though someday- the vidcast is simply more my forte right now. So to all you audio fans: take heart and send in ideas if you would like- you never know what may inspire me to plunge back into the audio arena.
Well that’s all I have time for right now :D I don’t want to yammer on too much.

If you all have any more questions- you know where to send ‘em: womenofwarcraft@gmail.com

WoW Chopper

March 29th, 2007 · 6 Comments

I just watched American Chopper on the ol Tv, and had some thoughts . . .

They should do a WoW bike!! It would be so cool. A while back they did a fantasy themed bike for the movie Eragon, don’t remember exactly when- but recently. The bike had dragons and the Eragon logo, and it was super duper kewl.

So . . . what would a WoW bike be like?

hmmm . . .

It could be divided down the center by a wall of flame, and have Alliance on one side with horde on the other.

There would have to be something written somewhere about how it’s an “epic mount” hehe.

Just imagine! How do you guys think an OCC WoW bike should be designed? We should all email blizzard about it :P and the guys at OCC.

Anyhoo- just a random thought I had that I thought I should share with you guys.
